Nothing like a five month break to get those creative juices flowing. I've discovered the best thing about living on the west coast- football season. Football starts on Sundays at 10am- it's now just after 5, and the night game is starting. I'll still have time to watch Family Guy after this. Sweet.

It's been an interesting five months- I'm discovering that I don't get paid nearly enough money for some of the people I have to put up with, or the amount of time I spend actually working. I suspect it's the same for everyone else in the world. My question is- all the people that make my job more difficult than it needs to be- do they complain about people? I try not to create more work for anyone, and I'm never rude about it...does anyone ever stop to think if maybe they were a little nicer to everyone, the world would be a better place?

The sisters are coming out for Thanksgiving- it will be our first "non-traditional" Thanksgiving. No way am I attempting to cook any sort of turkey- we're having it prepared, and then I'm picking it up. MomY and DadY are staying at home with the snow (as far as I know) and so we'll have a lovely time. We're going wine tasting, and I'm sure Big Sis has a whole binder of things to do. I'm looking forward to seeing them- it's been nearly three weeks since I was in Minnesota for the wedding.

Football is on, and I've got some vested interest in the game. I'm going to attempt to write more than I have been- I think it's good for me.

Hooray for long weekends!

Hooray for long weekends spent flying from state to state to state. I left California this afternoon, spent a good 45 minutes in Arizona, and am now chilling (and by chilling I mean roasting) in Nevada. It's 110 outside, and not a lot cooler inside. I've got two hours before my plane leaves to take me back to the land of the lakes, and I'm too impatient to amuse myself like I normally would.

I slammed my finger in a door today. Not my finest hour. It's the middle finger on my right hand, so if I were to be so rude as to flick someone off, they would get an extra large finger today. I've even got a puncture wound. It almost interfered with my typing. Almost.

I've got quite the weekend planned. MS is coming to pick me up at 4am, then we're having lunch with BigSis, Bethmania, El Dueno and a host of other pool peeps at 11- then it's rest time before dinner with Rednic, Natpot, and everyone else. On Saturday I'm off to Madtown to see KenBecky and LouisPhil (HOORAY!!!) and then back for MS's big bad 22 birthday. Sunday the family fun commences, and ends on Monday, when DadY is dropping me off at Rednic's for dinner with the maids.

Only an hour and 58 minutes now. Time is just flying by.

It has been a long time since my last blog. Since then, I've had three visitors, and a couple of really long work weeks. I also got me some glasses. JenY can see again.

It's a four day work week for me- I'm flying home for MS's birthday this weekend, and am attempting to see a lot of people in three days. Especially since MomY's family is having a shindig. I'm told there will be t-shirts to identify the various generations. Hmm...interesting. Oh well. So SuperSarah was here to visit for my birthday, and she locked me in jail! Don't I look sad? So sad that you feel like you should send me a present? That's what I thought.

I'm really liking my job, and am meeting some "nice young people." I think DadY is afraid I'm becoming a hermit. But at least I'm a hermit with a really good tan.

Ok- since today is my first day with the glasses, I've got a bit of a headache. It is nice to be able to see more than six feet in front of my face, but I'm not quite used to them yet.

A very quick little update

I really need to be better about blogging...because my life is oh-so-interesting. Oh wait, no. That's someone else's life.

MS and Randy Rana were here last week. I enjoyed having visitors, and we went into San Fran on Sunday and saw some sights. MS and I monkeyed around at the Golden Gate Bridge and wandered around on the wharf. We also did some shopping! Hooray- I haven't been shopping since I moved out here. I'm sporting a pretty new button down from H & M today. It's green. Makes me feel happy.

Only five more days until JENY DAY! That's right- the birthday countdown has begun. Big Sis is arriving very late tomorrow night to spend a week with me. Actually, I think she's coming to see Northern California (or Norcal...as we call it out here) and I'm a convenient place to stay. Oh well- we're going to see lots of baseball and do fun things.

Well, I've got to get me some dinner. Until next time.

Wow- it's been a real long time since my last entry. Very bad blogging!

I'm killing time until I get to go pick up MS and Randy Rana from the airport. My first visitors! I'm so excited- but not overly excited about the two hour drive each way, in the middle of the night.

While I was making a pie on Sunday, I sliced the end of my right index finger. It's really making my typing suffer. But I'm from the hood, so I'm going to tough it out. It's just hard to bandage.

So weird story that I've been saving- I went to get my oil changed. While I'm paying, the manager asks if I like my name. I've long held the opinion that when I was born, my parents didn't have a name picked out, asked the people in the next birthing room what they named their baby girl, and then stuck me with it. I've never been particularly fond of my name, but I don't hate it. Back to the story- the manager said he almost named his daughter Jenny, in honor of the John Denver song. But he named her Courtney instead, and now she doesn't like her name. Then, he wanted to know if my parents were big John Denver fans. I really just wanted to sign the charge slip and go home. It took entirely too long.

I also had to go to the eye doctor- JenY's going to have a new look in a week. Apparently I'm not supposed to be driving without some sort of corrective eyewear. Oops. Bad JenY. I've got some really cool transition lenses on my new glasses. I'll have to post a picture.

Ok- time to go. I promise to be back soon.

JenY's adventures in California

Furniture! I have furniture! It’s more stuff to dust, but there’s just something about having shelves for books, and a coffee table to put my feet on that makes me feel like I actually live here. I’ve still got a wall of boxes to unpack, but I’ve got a three day weekend to do it.

I went to the DMV last week to change my license, so I’m now an official resident of California. I had to get printed. If I ever decide to commit a crime, my prints are on file. Weird…there goes my plan of robbing the In-N-Out Burger…kidding.

While I was at the DMV, I also had to take a written test. The first time I took my drivers test, 8 years ago, it was on a computer. I’ve suddenly gone back in time, because the clerk handed me a sheet of paper and one of those little pencils with no eraser, and I got a little section of counter to take my test. I only missed one question. Sweet! Then I had to pass the eye exam. My vision has apparently deteriorated quite a bit since my last vision test (also 8 years ago) since it’s now 20-40 in one eye and 20-70 in the other. Stay tuned for my next installment, JenY goes to the eye doctor. I’m sure it will be an experience, especially since I’ve never been to an eye doctor. I’m having visions of that episode of Friends where Monica has to hold Rachel’s head at the optometrist. Yikes!

American Idol is finally on, and they’re singing songs from the 21st Century tonight. So far, they’ve all picked really bad songs. Suds in the Bucket? Really? Paula is especially crazy- 40 million people in the Church of Mandisa? I’m pretty excited about this American Dreamz movie with Hugh Grant and Mandy Moore. It’s an American Idol spoof! I always love a good spoof- I don’t know that American Dreamz is going to be another Spinal Tap or Best in Show, but it should be worth a laugh.

I’m going to sign off now- it’s time for Chris Daughtry. See you next time.

So I think I've walked about 100 miles since my arrival in California. Not that I'm complaining- it's 70 degrees and sunny, so I can work on my tan while I'm walking. Multitasking at its finest.

I'm watching college basketball. I love this time of year- I'm always excited to watch the games, and I always secretly hope for the big upset. The Cinderella teams are always so excited. This year's team is Bradley- in honor of Natpot's roommate Webcam Katie. Go Braves!

I clipped coupons today for the first time in my life. You know those ads that come in the mail, and everyone but Miss School Teacher throws them away? I actually looked at mine today. There are some good deals in there. Sweet.

I watched American Idol last night, and I was sad to see Kevin go. He was cute, and preferable to Bucky...who is more in need of a makeover than anyone who has ever been on the show. I still think Paris and Mandise are my favorites for the year. The ladies have mad pipe action.

Well, I think that's it for today. I've been so busy running around that I just fall into bed and am asleep within minutes. I kind of like it that way.
